Ready for unique feedback on your essays? Try one of these:

Traditional | Use the form below to submit a draft of your essay (up to 6,000 words), along with three questions you’d like for me to answer about your draft. Within 72 hours, I’ll return your message with thorough, encouraging, and kind answers to your questions, and in turn, I’ll ask you questions about the draft that will help you:

  • think about ways to open up the essay

  • consider questions a reader might have and whether or not you want to answer them

  • recognize missing elements or opportunities

  • consider shifts in point of view, tense, structure, the opening, and more

I prefer question-based feedback. In my experience, it allows you to follow your own instincts and intuition about the direction and revision of your essay. | $100

Thinking Around the Essay | Using the form below, submit a draft of your essay (up to 6,000 words). When I receive your draft, I’ll reach out to set up a Zoom visit. Instead of the traditional mode of discussing a draft, I’ll ask questions (not scripted, but rather based on each of your answers) to help you think more about the context(s) of your essay. In other words, personal questions about the content and people and other elements in your draft. My questions gently guide your thinking, and you always have the option to not answer a particular question during our conversation. In my experience, this heuristic approach opens up connections or background information you may not have realized or recognized as integral or illuminating for the essay and your readers. This is my favorite approach to working with writers, so I hope you’ll try it! | $100/hour
